The treatment is aimed at

The treatment is aimed at reducing the symptoms and managing the disease.

A person suffering from schizophrenia thinks that he is a special person, a cut above the rest, and so everyone is trying to do him in. He or she suffers from hallucinations and delusions. His thought process is disorderly and becomes far removed from reality.

Anti-psychotic drugs have been used for quite some time and are the first line of treatment for schizophrenia. The early drugs, like clozapine, were as effective as the newer ones. But their side effects were more severe than the newer drugs like risperidone and olanzapine. There are many more drugs under development. These drugs are very effective in preventing hallucinations and delusions. When the symptoms disappear it is important that the drug is tapered down slowly, to prevent relapse. Later in the treatment of schizophrenia, anti-depressive, anti-anxiety and anti-convulsive medications may be necessary to treat other symptoms, like bipolar mania and the side effects of the primary treatment.

Electro Convulsive Therapy (ECT) is a treatment given by highly trained health professionals.

PATNA: Medical investigations like X-ray and ultrasound and pathological tests, including biopsy as well as dental test, CT scan and ECG will be done free of cost at government hospitals in Bihar from July 15.

This was announced by state health minister Nand Kishore Yadav on Friday while replying to the debate on the budgetary demand of over Rs 1,794 crore of the department for the financial year 2009-10 in the Assembly. The government proposes to outsource these services to private clinics, he said.

The budgetary demand was passed by voice vote after rejecting the cut motion of Congress’ Ramdev Rai.

Yadav, giving a spirited reply to the opposition’s criticism of the functioning of government hospitals, said the health department’s performance during the NDA regime was something to be proud of

Defense seeks to pin down retired Baltimore Raven Michael McCrary on

Defense seeks to pin down retired Baltimore Raven Michael McCrary on

Daily Record, The (Baltimore), Jul 22, 2010 by Brendan Kearney

Retired Baltimore Raven Michael McCrary’s spotty memory of the details underlying his multimillion-dollar fraud suit against his former business partners featured prominently in his cross- examination Thursday in Baltimore City Circuit Court.

McCrary’s recollection of the events of 2005 — when he invested in a New Orleans condominium conversion project, saw it ruined by Hurricane Katrina and was defrauded of insurance proceeds — has been incomplete nearly every time he has testified.

But unlike the first trial two years ago, when the defendants and their lawyers were barred from participating and McCrary cruised to a $33 million verdict, in this retrial on damages McCrary has had to answer opposing lawyers’ questions, too.

Asked by defense attorney Richard Winelander about how the loan was secured, McCrary couldn’t recall. Asked whether the company he formed with defendant Edward V. Giannasca II was organized under the laws of Louisiana, McCrary said, “I’m not sure. I’m not a contract guy.”

He couldn’t remember if the National Guard surrounded the flooded office tower after the historic storm. And he couldn’t discuss the lawsuit a subsequent owner of the project has filed against Crescent City Estates LLC, McCrary and Giannasca’s company.

“I just don’t know the details of it,” McCrary testified. “I just can’t elaborate on it.”

Patrick Klotz Jr., who represents defendant Stuart C. “Neil” Fisher, said in an interview Thursday that “it’s pretty clear [McCrary] has no recollection of what went on with this deal.”

Klotz and Winelander, who represents defendant T.J. Fisher and some of her LLCs, have repeatedly objected to McCrary attorney Kenneth B. Frank’s leading questions.

Even Judge W. Michel Pierson chided Frank Thursday for trying to remind McCrary that the project sought tax increment financing to correct mold inside the Plaza Tower before Katrina soaked it.

“You know if you testify, Mr. Frank, it’s not the same as if Mr. McCrary testifies,” Pierson said.

Frank addressed the memory issue in his redirect examination of McCrary.

“Do you have any difficulty remembering the facts relevant to this case?” Frank asked.

“I had difficulty focusing and trying to dig into that memory,” McCrary answered, “because of the pain and medication at the time.”

McCrary, whose post-football knee problems and related painkiller usage were profiled by The Baltimore Sun three years ago and resurfaced recently in his divorce case, testified that he is no longer taking pain medications but is taking attention-deficit medications. (He thumbed through computer and gaming magazines during parts of Thursday’s proceedings.)

He said he might not remember all the details perfectly, “but overall I have a pretty good memory of what happened.”

Trial resumed Thursday after a two-week break to accommodate Winelander’s previously scheduled vacation.

Also Thursday, Pierson said Judge Alfred Nance, one of many judges who have presided over the case, has scheduled a hearing for Monday concerning Neil Fisher

Why reward mediocrity? If I was

Why reward mediocrity? If I was a coach and my team went 6-5, I’d be pissed!

The bowl system has been in place for a long, long time and most of the good ole’ boys in the NCAA don’t want to see that changed. The NCAA, along with the universities, love to count all the money that rolls in from corporate sponsors during bowl season.

The problem is that all these games are watering down college football and taking away what makes it special. To tell the truth, nobody, even the most diehard college football fan, cares about two 6-5 teams playing in a bowl game. Unless you are/were an alumnus or it’s your favorite team.

Nevertheless, the NCAA will keep creating more bowl games and continue to reward mediocrity. Remember, North Texas State made it to a bowl game a few years back with a 5-6 record! Excellent.

College football is a great institution, but like all institutions it desperately needs some overhauling.

The most popular

The most popular of home remedies is the recommendation to wash your face twice each day, with the best times to be in the morning and before you go to bed at night. Keep in mind that it is best to avoid scrubbing too hard as this may aggravate, or even result in, acne.

There are many benefits to both commercial acne treatments and home remedies. Among them, commercial or prescription acne treatments are often medically recommended. On the flip side, home remedy acne treatments are not medically tested, but they are natural, free and usually contain ingredients that are not harmful. This is not always the case with commercial or prescription acne treatments, which often carry the potential for serious side effects. In addition, they can be quite expensive.

No matter which acne treatment you use, be careful of possible irritation. The last thing that you will want is to aggravate an acne-prone area with a treatment product as this would defeat the entire purpose. The best way to begin with any cream or lotion treatment is to apply the product to a small test area of skin in order to make sure there are no incompatibilities with your skin.

BILAL HAFEEZ, GLOBAL HEAD OF FOREIGN EXCHANGE STRATEGY AT DUETSCHE BANK AG, TALKS TO ANDREA CATHERWOOD ABOUT CHINA’S CURRENCY AND THE GREEK CRISIS MAY 24, 2010 SPEAKERS: BILAL HAFEEZ, GLOBAL HEAD OF FOREIGN EXCHANGE STRATEGY, DUETSCHE BANK AG ANDREA CATHERWOOD, BLOOMBERG NEWS ANDREA CATHERWOOD, BLOOMBERG NEWS: I am joined by the Global Head of Foreign Exchange Strategy at the world’s biggest Forex dealer, Deutsche Bank, Bilal Hafeez, good morning to you. BILAL HAFEEZ, GLOBAL HEAD OF FOREIGN EXCHANGE STRATEGY, DUETSCHE BANK AG: Good morning. CATHERWOOD: Let’s look, first, at what is happening in China. We have heard these words gradual, independent, and really very little has changed. Is this a signal to the U.S. delegation that they are not really going to get anywhere on the movement on the yuan this time around? HAFEEZ: Well, what we have seen over the last few months is on both sides, but the U.S. and Chinese side has much more dialogue, having previously been one where the whole topic was very political. So I do think that although we may necessarily any big announcements today, we are moving towards a scenario where they do actually revalue their currency. CATHERWOOD: I suppose the key question is when and that is what nobody seems to have the answer to. HAFEEZ: I wouldn’t be surprised if they did move to some kind of revaluation over the next three or four months. CATHERWOOD: What effect do you think the euro crisis may be having on their thoughts about what to do with the yuan and when? HAFEEZ: Well, it complicates the picture somewhat in the sense that the euro decline has been so rapid that the Euro/China exchange rate has moved so much. And Europe is a larger trade partner with China than the U.S. is, so to some extent if they were to revalue against the dollar, then you would see a much broader base yuan strength, which would harm them to some extent. So I think that to some extent has possibly delayed the timing that they were thinking of. CATHERWOOD: Now, your thoughts on Greece are perhaps slightly different from many – HAFEEZ: Sure. CATHERWOOD: – here that we talk to because you do genuinely believe that Greece is going to leave the Euro. HAFEEZ: No. We don’t think they are going to leave the Euro, no. So but – CATHERWOOD: Well, just tell me what you do think. HAFEEZ: So our view, basically, with the Euro area is that we think the system won’t break up, that Greece will remain in the Euro area. Moreover, we don’t think that there will be any major restructuring or so in the very near-term for Greece. So we think that people are becoming overly pessimistic on the Euro area system as a whole. CATHERWOOD: Is it true then that we may find that there is more fiscal common policy now after this crisis than there was before? Is that what we have to see for Greece to remain in the Eurozone and for the Eurozone to succeed? HAFEEZ: I think so, yes. All the moves you have seen so far in terms of the big package that was announced several weekends ago, all moving much more closer to a fiscal union. And the end game here is that we do see some form of fiscal union whereby there is a share of the fiscal risk across the region, but at the same time there has to be some kind of system of controls to prevent countries from running too large of fiscal deficits. CATHERWOOD: Now, the issue with that of course is that we have seen such diversity and a lack of unity over this bailout, going back for months. And it does seem difficult to imagine that this kind of common fiscal policy is going to be easy to achieve. HAFEEZ: It won’t be easy, but everyone recognizes within Euro, that is what has to be done. If somebody asked anyone in the market about two or three months ago whether there would ever be this size of package to potentially stabilize other countries, people would have said no. But as time has gone on, people, all the countries with the Euro area, whether reluctantly or not, are moving towards this fiscal union. CATHERWOOD: Now, what about where the euro goes from here

Only once you have a

Only once you have a real chance of going that far then it’ll be the time to regularily play in those tournaments.

5. When loss turns into profit

When all has gone according to plan you should see more money flowing into your account than you loose. But be careful – don’t get overconfident. In bigger tournaments you are likely to play against players who are real veterans of level you haven’t played against yet. Stay very focused and don’t make silly mistakes.

At this stage it doesn’t really matter what types of tournaments you play in, but you need to follow one final rule: don’t play regularily against weaker opponents.

Did she give her Simon a YES?

Did she give her Simon a YES?

AS one of the most powerful men in showbiz, he once said he would never risk his fortune by getting married.

But has Simon Cowell had an astonishing change of heart? The X Factor judge presented new love Mezhgan Hussainy with a huge diamond ring during a romantic dinner at the couple’s favourite restaurant – and it was immediately placed on her engagement finger.

The loved-up star, 50, surprised his girlfriend with the giant rock as they dined alongside his old flame Jackie St Claire and her husband Carl Michaelson at Mr Chow in Knightsbridge, London. It came six months after the Mirror first revealed they were dating.

The group shared two pounds 42 Mr Chow specials – whole lobster and black cod – and sipped mineral water and, for Simon, wheat-free beer.

At about 9.15pm, Simon declared he had a special announcement.

Pulling out the diamond sparkler he gave it to Afghan-born Mezhgan, 36 – known as Mish – and gently placed it on her ring finger. As Jackie whooped with delight, a waiter congratulated the couple and offered them complimentary champagne.

Last night, a source told the Mirror: “Simon may come across as Mr Nasty on screen but he’s a big softie at heart. He wanted to do something unexpected and out of character on Valentine’s Day and decided to splash out on a ring
